Tiger Woods at PGA Championship 2012 Tracker: Day 3 Highlights, Updates and More
Sam Greenwood/Getty Images
Tiger Woods managed yesterday to be one of only five players to break par, and he ended up sharing the lead with three-time major winner Vijay Singh and Carl Pettersson. They are at a four-under total of 140 through the midway point—the first 36 holes.
One day after 44 players broke par, the wind was gusting and scores soared. Woods used his short game, chipping and putting his way to a one-under 71 in the second round.
He is now in a familiar position setting himself up for a weekend run at his first major title since 2008. He will be paired today with Singh on the final group and will tee off at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Stay here as I will update you on how Woods fares on every hole through this important third round on moving Saturday.

No more play for today! There was not enough daylight remaining for the time that play could probably have been restarted so here is the game plan for tomorrow:
- The remaining groups in the course will restart tomorrow from 7:45 a.m. ET.
- Fourth round will start at 11:44 a.m. ET and play will be split starting from the first and 10th tee with players divided in threesomes.
You can read the official notice to the players by clicking here.
Play has been halted! The system is big enough and is unavoidable at this point, the horn has gone off and play is stopped and it could be done for the day!

Hole 8 | Par-3 | 198 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods tried a pull-slice here but his tee shot stops just short of the green and rolls off it to about 50 feet from the hole.
His struggles continue and with an impending storm heading towards the course he could use the break.
Golf Channel's Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelGC) tweets us regarding the possibilities of the storming reaching Kiawah
Not saying it's going to storm here, but I just saw gators and snakes going two-by-two into some sort of large ark.

Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes bogey!
The par-fives keep killing Woods' opportunities! He missed the par-putt to the left of the hole and is at three-over-par for the day and going backwards.

Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
He was lucky that his fourth shot from the sand hit the flag otherwise it could have gone over 20 feet from the hole.
He still has about 10-12 feet to go for par.
Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods' third shot with an eight-iron finds the sandy area to the right of the hole.
He will have about 40 feet to the hole from the sandy area which lies about eight-feet downhill so he will have a blind shot to the hole.
Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods' tee shot starts down the left side of the fairway trying to stay in but it hopped one-step from it landing on the edge of the sandy area.
His second shot from an awkward stance came out way low and is off the fairway to the right side. Looks like he will not have a shot at reaching the green cleanly with his third shot.
Is this the new Tiger Woods. Flirting with the lead at a major and then moving south on Moving Saturday? Coach Jory Hansen (@CoachHansen_DWU) tweets us his thoughts:
Another Saturday in a major, another struggle for Tiger Woods so far. Interesting for how he played the 1st 36 holes.

Hole 6 | Par-4 | 480 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
He had the perfect read here but not enough speed. The ball stopped just a foot from the hole.
Woods tapped in for par.

Hole 6 | Par-4 | 480 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods had 178 yards to go and selected an eight-iron for his second shot.
He hit the ball and was begging the wind to pick this up and not let it overshoot the green. The ball lands on the green about 25 feet from the cup.
Hole 6 | Par-4 | 480 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods selects a three-wood for this tee-shot and lands the ball in the middle of the fairway.
Rory McIlroy has made a birdie on the par-five seventh hole and has the outright lead at seven-under-par and now Woods is five shots behind the leader.

Hole 5 | Par-3 | 196 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes bogey.
Second bogey in three holes for Woods! He missed the 10-foot par-putt from the get go as he pulled it and never looked with a chance to make it.
He tapped in for bogey and is now three from the co-leaders, Rory McIlroy and his playing partner Vijay Singh.

Hole 5 | Par-3 | 196 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods had that wide open club face as if to hit high in the air and his shot stops about 10 feet from the hole.
Looks like he was worry of flying it over the hole here but it was completely the opposite and will have a very challenging putt for par coming up.
Hole 5 | Par-3 | 196 yards
-----------------------------------------
The pin today is all the way to the back of the green.
Woods hits a hook shot here trying to fight the wind here and on the air it looked like he might have to sign another glove but it lands on the mushy rough to the left side of the green.
Spectators are safe, nothing to worry here. I have to agree with John Zolkoske's (@therealjonZ) tweets us:
Tiger Woods is going to have to stop by the proshop and pick up some more gloves on the turn #PGAChamp

Hole 4 | Par-4 | 458 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes bogey.
He took a long look for this short and squeaky four-feet putt. And he makes it for the bogey.
He dropped to two shots off the lead and gave away two gloves!
After two big misses for birdie by Woods on his previous two holes it appears he hasn't been able to get that off his mind as he is just playing uncharacteristically for him.
Hopefully he will pick this up soon!

Hole 4 | Par-4 | 458 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods' third shot stops way short of the green about 15 feet from the green.
With his fourth his chip shot rolls through the left side of the hole and stops four feet past the hole. He will have just that for his first bogey of the day.
Hole 4 | Par-4 | 458 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods hit this second shot with some serious strength in a very awkward-looking way as he even went with the swing.
The ball rolls about 50 feet from the green as Woods implores for it to "bite! bite! bite!". Obviously the ball didn't listen, as it was too busy screaming itself after Woods massive hit on it!
Hole 4 | Par-4 | 458 yards
-----------------------------------------
The wind was blowing from right-to-left at 10 MPH and Woods hits what looked to be like a push-hook and the ball had all kinds of turn catching the wind and went errand to the left hitting a spectator on the ankle.
Thanks to this the ball stopped from going even further left. The spectator gets a reward for being hit by Woods, as he signed his glove and gave it to him.
He will have a long 200 yards to go for his second. Seems like he still has those two big misses on the previous holes on his mind.
Woods has to get his putting going and really put this opening three holes on the Recycle Bin quickly!
Everyone knows it, just see what Kieran Mallen (@MallseyF1) tweets us:
There always seems to be one element of Tiger Woods game missing. Today it appears to be putting. #USPGA

Hole 3 | Par-4 | 390 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
Very bad miss by Woods! He pulled the putt from the break and rims out of the cup and had two feet for his par-putt.
He took some time to shake-off that miss and is definitely off to a complete opposite start than the previous two days where he was making this putts.
Hopefully he will get it together soon.

Hole 3 | Par-4 | 390 yards
-----------------------------------------
Excellent shot by Woods! He lands it just above the hole and rolls it back towards the cup and stops just five feet from it.
He will have his first big chance for a birdie coming up!
Hole 3 | Par-4 | 390 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods opted not to use the driver here and lays up with his tee shot. Very good decision as the ball lands on top of the plateau on the middle of the fairway and will have a perfect look to aim with his approach shot to the putting surface from there.

Hole 2 | Par-5 | 557 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
Woods missed a chance to get it close for a birdie here when his third shot from the sandy area stopped well short of the hole by about 25 feet.
From there he gave it a nice run that looked dead center but it rimmed out of the top part of the cup. Looked like he might have putted a little harder than he needed.
He tapped in for par and remains one behind Singh who also par the hole.

Hole 2 | Par-5 | 557 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods' second shot lands on the sandy area to the left of the green.
Not bad, he will have plenty of green to work with to get it near and possibly get a birdie to regain a share of the lead with Singh.
