PSG: High Profile Moves They Could Still Make This Summer
The money spent has been outrageous, and the players they have purchased have been top tier, but is PSG really done spending this summer.
Common sense would say they are, but this is PSG and the ownership group is anything but predictable.
There are several players who may still be under the watchful eye of the Parisian outfit. The following are some players who could still be in line for a transfer to PSG.
Luka Modric, Tottenham
Modric was reportedly on PSG's radar earlier in the summer, but seemed to have cooled of late.
With Real Madrid and Tottenham failing to come to an agreement, PSG could swoop in for one last major move.
While the addition of Modric would add another dynamic attacker to an already loaded attack, the recent capture of Brazilian starlet Lucas should have put an end to any potential Modric speculation.
Kaka, Real Madrid
Another rumor since Leonardo touched down in Paris has involved Kaka.
The AC Milan and Brazilian connection is there, so interest in the Madrid man is not a stretch. Any move would not cost as much as a Modric, but would still be classed as a high profile capture.
Again, the jam of attack minded players at PSG should be a deterent for a Kaka signing.
Maicon, Inter Milan
Maicon is another stud defender who has been linked to Paris this summer.
A move for this Brazilian would make the most sense as far as another high profile transfer goes. The impressive defender would raise the bar of PSG's backline even more.
His ability to support the attack would be another check in the plus column—but with others rumored to be chasing his signature, PSG would have to come in with a steller offer.
Ashley Cole, Chelsea
Sticking with the defense, a move for Ashley Cole of Chelsea would be a major move looking to boost the defensive talent.
Ancelotti knows Cole well and it is not out of the realm of possibility that interest for his services would be there.
Cole is another defender who has a good reputation and strengthens the defensive third even more.
Dimitar Berbatov, Manchester United
Berbatov is unsettled behind Rooney and company at Manchester United, so there would be no guarantees he would be happy playing second fiddle to Ibrahimovic.
The plus side to a move for Berbatov is what he can bring off the bench. He is a predatory striker who has a tremendous scoring record.
Being able to rest Ibra with a player of Berbatov's ability would limit the drop off to the bench for the attack.
