LoLo Jones is infamous for her heart-breaking hurdle clash at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Jones was on her way to victory, but finished in seventh place after her encounter with the second-to-last hurdle.
At this year's Olympics, Jones looked unsteady, did not even receive automatic qualification for the final and only got into the finals by the skin of her teeth, despite being a medal contender.
Jones' performance in the final was lackluster. She placed fourth overall, losing out to Sally Pearson of Australia and both her American teammates, which included Dawn Harper, who picked up the gold in Beijing after Jones lost the battle with the second last hurdle.
Jones not only has to deal with the disappointment of finishing in the dreaded fourth position, but was also tackled by the media who unfairly compared her to Anna Kournikova.
In response to the negative criticism the NY Daily News reported Jones to have said:
“They should be supporting our US Olympic athletes and instead they just ripped me to shreds. I just thought that that was crazy because I worked six days a week, every day, for four years for a 12-second race and the fact that they just tore me apart, which is heartbreaking.”
