Tiger Woods at PGA Championship 2012 Tracker: Day 1 Highlights, Updates and More

Tiger Woods is the favorite to win the 94th edition of the PGA Championship.
He will begin his quest for major title No. 15 from the 10th hole today at 8:30 am ET, and in his group will be the past two PGA Championship winners, Keegan Bradley and Martin Kaymer.
Stay here as I will update you on how Woods fares on every hole today.
Tiger Woods had six birdies and three bogeys today to shot a three-under 69. But he had a very good chance to be at least two shots lower as he missed two short birdie-putts he would like to have back.
He was more aggressive today trying to take advantage of the favorable weather conditions that are not expected to be seen again the rest of the weekend.
We saw him went to the driver again with mixed results and overall he wasn't accurate with it. He was a all over the place and has to start looking for some more consistency this weekend.
He was not that far from having a very good round, but with the impending wind conditions it will be difficult for him or any other player to have the great scores we saw today.

Hole 9 | Par-4 | 496 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
He used the bounce of the club here to get the ball high up in the air and land it right above the hole to the left of the hole and spins it back towards the hole.
He then made the two-feet par-putt to finish at three-under today and at the moment five shots from the surprising leader Joost Luiten.

Hole 9 | Par-4 | 496 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods tee shot went 300 yards and had 206 yards to the hole.
He hit the ball and right away started to shout "Go! Go! Go!" and he knew he was trying to force the ball into the green.
Seems like he might have been in between clubs as he stays just short of the green and will have a tough shot from a hill below the hole.
Hole 9 | Par-4 | 496 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods went with a three-wood here. Losing some confidence on his driver or playing for position?
His tee shot started down the right side and landed on the cut grass on the right side of the fairway. It looked like he pushed this tee shot just a tad too much.
At least he will have a good angle for his approach shot.
It's really hot and humid today!

Hole 8 | Par-3 | 204 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes birdie!
Woods gets the birdie-putt to go in just off the right side of the cup!
Sixth birdie on the day for Woods and now moves within three shots of the lead!
One more hole to go now!

Beautiful shot by Woods! He lands the tee shot at about the 190-yard mark and it rolled to within five feet of the hole!
Great chance for birdie coming up!

Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
He gave it a good run as the ball was in line with the hole but lost steam as it reached the cup missing by less than a foot.
He made the tap in for par.

Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods' problems with distance control continues.
He hits the wedge with the intention of getting it hole high but lands short of the hole 10 feet and rolls back another 10 below the hole.
He will have a long uphill putt for birdie.
Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods hits a terrible shot from the dune that just rolls through the fairway and ends up at the left side of the fairway.
If you miss here with the pin location to the left of the green, the right side is the place to be and Woods is on the complete opposite side.
He will use a wedge for his third shot.
Hole 7 | Par-5 | 579 yards
-----------------------------------------
Depending on the wind, players will have to decide whether to carry a natural dune area that creeps into the fairway from the right, or simply play left of it. The green should be reachable in two by most players.
Woods finds the dune area on the right and right away he is now in trouble. Very difficult now to reach the green in two and he will have a big decision to take now with his second shot.

Hole 6 | Par-4 | 480 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
He used the putter from the hill and gave it a good run. The ball broke to the left of the hole just as it was approaching the hole and stopped just over two feet past the hole.
He made the comeback putt for par.

Hole 6 | Par-4 | 480 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods had 186 yards for his second shot.
He hits it and we see him gesturing trying to get the shot to come back to his left but the ball lands on the rights edge of the green and slips down the hill.
He will have a very challenging third shot since he doesn't have much green to work with.
Hole 6 | Par-4 | 480 yards
-----------------------------------------
The fairway is framed by three wind-pruned live oak trees. Players should take aim at the center oak with a slight draw to eliminate problems from a waste area and a small pond to the left.
Woods' tee shot after his missed opportunity on the fifth hole is right down the center of the fairway.
He showed some displeasure as he picked his tee which could be indicative that he is still furious about missing the easy birdie-putt on the fifth.

Hole 5 | Par-3 | 188 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
He misses the easy birdie-putt as he pushes it and it rims out of the cup!
Very heartbreaking for him as he is trying to climb back on the leaderboard.

The course turns back to the west at this point. With Folly Beach to their backs, plays will hit to a green in the shape of an hourglass, running away from them diagonally to the right.
Woods hits an amazing shot with the difficult placement of the pin on the left side of this green! He sticks the landing of this shot under five feet above the hole!
Great chance to get back the shot he just dropped on the fourth hole!

Hole 4 | Par-4 | 458 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes bogey!
Woods had to take a drop after he missed his tee shot on the tall grass to the left.
From there missed the green to the right and found one of the sandy areas around the green.
His fourth shot lands within four feet from the hole and made the bogey-putt.
First dropped shot for Woods since the 14th hole and is now three shots from the leaders.

This is considered the toughest hole on the outward nine. Depending on the wind, the second shot to a large green can be played with nearly every club in the bag, from a hybrid to an 8-iron.
Woods misses badly his tee shot to the right and finds the tall grass. Big trouble for Woods here as he will likely drop at least one shot.

Hole 3 | Par-4 | 390 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes par.
Woods took a long look at this after Bradley missed his birdie-putt. His putt was downhill on the same line so he had to be mindful of the speed here.
He made a good stroke but the putt never broke back to the right and missed by just over a foot. He made the par putt.

-----------------------------------------
Woods' tee shot was 262 yards long and had 132 yards to the hole for his second shot.
He lands the approach shot above the hole about 15-20 feet from the hole. This will be another long but very makeable putt for Woods.
He is going for four birdies in-a-row. This would definitely get him at supernova heat!
Woods is on fire and the fans acknowledge this!
Lets see the tweet by BElliot92:

Hole 3 | Par-4 | 390 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods goes with the three-wood for this tee shot and hits a low cutter down the middle of the fairway. He will have yet another great angle for his approach shot and get the ball close for another birdie.

Hole 2 | Par-5 | 561 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods makes birdie!
Another great confident-looking putt that goes dead center into the hole!
He is heating up as he birdies this hole and keeps his momentum going!

Woods' third shot from the sand releases well and rolls below the hole about 15 feet. Long but makeable putt for birdie.
He is going for his third straight birdie.
Hole 2 | Par-5 | 561 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods tee shot was just 280 yards and had 282 yards to go to the hole with his second.
He could make it to the green in two shots, the question here was if he could keep it on the small green that is only 24-feet deep.
He got nice contact on the ball but couldn't get enough air on it and it went to his left and found the sand area. Nice lie though but will have some work to do with his third to get it close for a birdie attempt.
Hole 2 | Par-5 | 561 yards
-----------------------------------------
Woods used a three-wood for his tee shot here and easily finds the left side of the fairway.
