Michael Jordan and the Coolest Bald Athletes on the Planet: BR5

BR5Daily ShowAugust 8, 2012

Welcome to BR5, your daily source for sports and pop culture news.

Hair loss isn’t great. It happens to many, even athletes. For all you sports fans out there suffering from hair loss, we decided to craft a list of athletes who are in the same boat. Misery loves company, right? Here is our list of the best and coolest bald athletes ever.

Now for honorable mention, we present you English footballer, and hothead in his own right, Wayne Rooney. Manchester United’s Rooney was noticeably balding for quite a while, and then, had hair again! Hair plugs. Interesting play Rooney. Interesting indeed!

How about Andre Agassi? Agassi’s baldness was quite a letdown for the sporting world. That majestic mullet he had for years turned out to be a wig. Shocking. Just shocking.

The Chicago Bears have a famous baldy in their midst in Brian Urlacher, who is quite successful despite his hair loss. With eight Pro Bowl appearances, Urlacher’s biggest achievement may in fact be attracting former Playboy playmate Jenny McCarthy. There’s hope for bald men everywhere!

We go international again for French footballer Zinadine Zidane. At the close of an incredibly successful career, Zidane went out with a bang in the World Cup Finals in 2006. In extra time, in a tie game against Italy, Zidane infamously head-butted Italian defender Marco Materazzi in the chest. The French missed his boot when the match went to penalty kicks as they fell to Italy. C’est la vie!

The most high profile current athlete on this list is LeBron James. He finally got himself a title in Miami, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be getting his hair back any time soon.

Finally is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time. Regardless of all his success, NBA titles, and countless other accolades, Michael Jordan is, and was for his entire career, a bald man. At least that’s one thing he didn’t have going for him.

So there you have it. See? Being bald’s not so bad! If we missed anyone, let us know below!
