What Will the New England Patriots Have To Do During the Offseason?

Jack RyderContributor IFebruary 24, 2009

The New England Patriots have a lot of decisions on who to draft, if they should trade Matt Cassel or keep him for the 2009-2010 NFL season, and what they should pick up in free agency.

The draft will have a say in where Matt Cassel will go. There is a possible chance that he might go to the Vikings, the Chiefs, the Lions, the Jets, or the 49ers. These teams will most likely try and make a trade for Matt Cassel.

The Detriot Lions will most likely draft Matthew Stafford as the first overall pick in this year's draft, but Matthew Staford has not proven if he can play at an NFL pro level. Matt Cassel has already proven that he can play a great football.

The Lions also have the 20th overall pick in the draft, and the Patriots could also trade for that with an addition third round pick in this year's draft.

For this free agency, the Patriots could try and pick up CB Chris McAlister. He is a good shut down corner and can make big plays a crucial times in a game.

There are many other things the Patriots have to do this offseason.
