When it comes to the BCS standings, conferences like the Big East, Mountain West and Conference USA are just hoping to get a team up towards the top 10. In the SEC, five teams all have a genuine belief that they can get to the BCS Championship Game.
The Pac-12 doesn’t have nearly as many options as the SEC, but the two contenders out West are truly fighting for the right to win a national title, not just be highly ranked. Both Oregon and the University of Southern California are fighting for the right to hoist the crystal ball.
The Ducks lost to USC a season ago, at home no less, and this year, with USC eligible for postseason play, a lot hinges on their meeting in November. The winner will be in the driver’s seat of the Pac-12, but who truly holds the key to the Pac-12’s BCS title hopes, Oregon or USC?
