The final throes of the 2012 MLB season are upon us, giving us what is sure to be a wild and purely entertaining ride.

If you are into spoilers and ruining a good surprise, please join us as we delve into playoff certainties. The non-waiver MLB trade deadline wave leaves us, but the ripples from a tremendous few days will resonate well into October.

Simply, some teams are better off for this grand playoff push. Of course, there are those who should be well comfortable headed into the fall. Yankees, Reds and Nationals—we are all looking at you.

However, there are going to be a few surprises as to who finally makes the playoffs. An additional wild-card spot guarantees a scintillating summer as it dissolves into a raucous autumn of baseball.
