The U.S. women's soccer team rolled through Group G unblemished, and now heads into the knockout round of the 2012 London Games against New Zealand. The U.S. team is seeking their third consecutive Olympic soccer gold medal.
Team USA has outscored its opponents by an 8-2 margin over its first three games, and looks to continue its dominating success against the Kiwis on Friday.
Here is where you can catch all of Friday's action:
Event: 2012 Women's Olympic Soccer Quarterfinals: USA vs. New Zealand
Date: Friday, August 3rd
Time: 9:30 a.m. ET
The United States women found themselves in a 2-0 hole just 20 minutes into their opening-day match against France.
Boy, was that a wake-up call.
Team USA came storming back to win that game 4-2, and has yet to allow a goal since that early deficit. Their group stage march has included a 3-0 dispatching of Colombia and a 1-0 victory over North Korea.
The dominance of the red, white and blue has even prompted ESPN.com's Julie Foudy to declare the U.S. "unstoppable."
New Zealand, on the other hand, has not had similar success. The Kiwis failed to register a goal against two of the world's best teams—Great Britain and Brazil—dropping both matches by a 1-0 score.
The New Zealand women found their way into the country's first-ever Olympic quarterfinals appearance by knocking off Cameroon 3-1, and then qualifying via goal differential over North Korea.
The winner of this matchup will advance to the semifinals to face either Great Britain or Canada.
