Predictions for Team USA vs. Nigeria

As a massive compliment to Nigeria, I won't predict an outright slaughter. They do have some talent on their squad—even if nothing short of Hakeem Olajuwon's return can truly save them.

They have two NBA players in Ike Diogu and Al-Farouq Aminu. The 6'8'' Diogu is his country's best player, despite a peripatetic NBA career. This is probably because Ike always produced—he just never fit within an NBA system.

At the FIBA level, a player need not know an extensive playbook; he just needs to play. The Nigerian team allows Ike the freedom to be the player many Golden State Warriors fans had hoped for. He also could have some success against a relatively short Team USA frontcourt.

Will Diogu's efforts be enough to keep Nigeria close? For this to happen, he needs to have an amazing game.

The game can be viewed on NBC Sports Network at 5:15 p.m. ET.
