Welcome to BR5, your daily source for sports and pop culture news!
BR5 was invited by EA Sports to see a presentation of their newest video game technology, 3D face capture system.
They wanted to utilize it for their upcoming release of FIFA '13, and they brought along some serious athlete star power with the entire Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. All of their star players were in attendance, including their new star midfielder, Gareth Bale.
Desi Sanchez got a moment with a few of the players, including Bale, to talk FIFA '13, Olympics, the upcoming English Premier League and playing exhibition games in the United States. Desi also wanted to know which star player, Ronaldo versus Messi, each of the Spurs preferred.
Not surprisingly, each of the Hotspur players had a distinct preference and heavily favored one over the other.
When Desi wasn't trading questions with players, she got some time to talk to some of the different representatives from EA Sports. She got an exclusive interview with Simon Huber, Creative Director at EA Sports, who revealed some of the new exciting features for FIFA '13.
Players now have different first-touch responses, so not all of them dribble perfectly when receiving a pass. He also dished out a ton more information on what to expect, so you have to watch the video to catch it all!
At the end of the event, Desi stopped by the head scan station to talk with Nigel Dunn, digital imaging lead, to get the scoop on the players' experience during their 3D capture. Desi was able to get herself scanned, and we were able to catch a glimpse of what it's like behind the scenes for the most exciting soccer game of the year.
