For those of you who caught the Leafs/Canucks game tonight, you know that you were treated to a hard fought battle between two very different teams.  For those of you who didn't, I strongly suggest that you catch the highlights, as you missed out on a great goaltending battle.

The Leafs received goals from Jason Blake (22nd) and Matt Stajan (14th).  Vancouver received goals from Sami Salo (4th) and Alex Burrows (15).  Both goaltenders were excellent with Luongo stopping 36 of 38, and Toskala stopping 35 of 37.

However, the real story of this game was the return of Mats Sundin to the Air Canada Centre.  At the first commercial break, they aired a tear-jerking tribute to Mats, who received a loud standing ovation.  In a classy act, the linesman delayed the faceoff for a couple minutes so that the fans could continue their ovation.  Sundin, who is known to keep his emotions hidden on the ice, had a couple of tears in his eyes, as I'm sure many of the Leafs faithful did while applauding him.

The story was a bit different during game-play though, where Sundin was booed whenever he had the puck.  It makes sense, because although the fans respect him, he is now an enemy on another team.  The game was rather un-eventful for Sundin though, until the shootout.  It was even, one to one, and Sundin was Vancouver's final shooter, looking for the win.  In classic Sundin fashion, he pulled out the fake shot to backhand move and scored, winning the game.

It was truly an emotional night for us Leafs fans, seeing Mats return, and start crying to our ovation.  I'm glad to say I was a fan of his for 13 years, and I wish Mats lots of luck in the rest of the season with Vancouver, and if he should return next season.  A true class act, thank you Mats for 13 great seasons.
