Mario Gutierrez doesn’t do much sitting around anymore. Ever since his whirlwind trip aboard Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another, Gutierrez has taken some time away from racing to travel. He makes his home in Vancouver, but since the disappointment of I’ll Have Another’s scratch in the Belmont Stakes, he rarely spends time there. “I like to travel right now,” Gutierrez said before riding Handsome Mike to a fourth-place finish in today’s $1 million Haskell Invitational. “I’ve been to Virginia, I’ve been to Edmonton, I’ve been to Vancouver. I was in Seattle twice already, I went to Del Mar, I was supposed to go to Saratoga, but I came here instead today. So (after this) back to Canada, maybe back to Del Mar again, then to Seattle and Vancouver. So I’m going to be all over for a few weeks.”
