The 2008-09 B/R College Football Semi-Finals: Oklahoma-Alabama

David ArreolaSenior Analyst IFebruary 22, 2009

Welcome, friends, to the second to last edition of B/R's College Football Playoff.

Last week pitted the top seeded Gators against the seventh seeded TCU Horned Frogs. Although it looked like an easy win for the Gators, the voters did not think so.

TCU Upset Florida in a BIG way taking 80.4% of the votes. A number that simply blows my mind.

TCU advances to the B/R College Football Championship and will play the winner of Oklahoma and Alabama.

Semi-Finals: (5) Oklahoma Sooners vs. (6) Alabama Crimson Tide

Why Oklahoma will win

The no-huddle offense is no joke, and it will make Alabama's defense have to adjust quickly.

The 'Bama defense is good enough to hold their own against Sam Bradford's high scoring offense. I expect a very defensive game.

Oklahoma's defense is second-rate at best. They really could not stop Florida in the BCS National title game. I expect them to have a better performance against Alabama as John Parker Wilson tends to get careless late in games.

Why Alabama will win

That offensive line of Alabama is massive and Glen Coffee will be pounding the rock all day.

Like I mentioned above, the Alabama defense will hold their won for the most part. A lot of this game will depend on field position and how each quarterback handles the pressure.

Coffee will have a solid game and that will help keep pressure off John Parker Wilson.

My pick

This will be a very exciting game. If the Alabama defense can't stop the Sooners from scoring early then this game will be over fast.

I think they do stop them, and it will come down to a last minute drive for Alabama to win it.

Roll Tide?

Alabama wins 28-24.

What do you think?
