Team USA women's basketball is lined up to meet the women from Angola in their second preliminary-round matchup. This game is nothing but another tune-up for Candace Parker and the Americans.
After struggling early against Croatia, they pulled ahead to an impressive 81-56 victory. Angola, on the other hand, lost decisively to Turkey in a game that was never really in question.
In men’s gymnastics, the pecking order was turned upside down during the qualifying rounds on Saturday.
Great Britain shocked the world, and themselves, as their team placed third overall. America, led by star Danell Leyva, finished first and will look to secure a big gold medal over China in an event where China was the favorite.
Ryan Lochte will look to add his second gold medal in as many events as he competes in the 200-meter freestyle final. He has a tough challenge ahead of him in China’s Sun Yang.
Yang bested Lochte during the qualifying round, but he will need to turn out an even bigger performance if he hopes to hold off the determined American when it counts.
