Big XII Tournament: Baylor Lady Bears vs. Texas Longhorns
The Baylor Lady Bears take on the Texas Longhorns today in the Phillips 66 Big XII Tournament.
Their two previous meetings this year between the teams resulted in a split. So what will happen in this game tonight?
The Longhorns are an excellent team and, if considered the underdog, they aren't much of one. They're strong all-around and will definitely give Baylor a run for their money.
The Lady Bears would not have this problem if Jhasmin Player, the star guard, didn't tear her ACL earlier in the season. However, if the Lady Bears fire at all cylinders tonight, they will still be unstoppable.
The post play of Danielle Wilson and Rachel Allison is arguably among the best in the country (they were able to shut down the Paris sisters of Oklahoma in both meetings this season) and both Jessica Morrow and Jessika Bradley have stepped up their play immensely this season. Freshman Melissa Jones has stepped nicely into Player's position and has been a major contributor for the Lady Bears in hustle stats. Of course, the leadership of Angela Tisdale has been a major reason for the success of this team as well.
How well the Lady Bears will do against Texas tonight is depend on how well they play together. The strength of this team is how they come together as one team—no one player is the standout star but they achieve everything together. It's what one them the national championship in 2005, it's what got them through Player's injury this year, and it's what keeps them among America's best.
Game time for the Baylor/Texas tonight is 7 PM (Eastern)/6 PM (Central). It is televised on FSN.
