The host country's dominance of the sport was in full effect as Great Britain totaled 12 medals (eight gold, two silver, two bronze) in these London Games.

A total of 14 British cyclists medaled, including a pair of gold for Sir Chris Hoy (Men's Keirin, Men's Team Sprint), Jason Kenny (Men's Sprint, Men's Team Sprint) and Laura Trott (Women's Omnium, Women's Team Pursuit).

China's Shuang Guo scored three medals—two silver and a bronze. Kristin Armstrong brought the only gold to the United States, winning the Women's Individual Time Trial, Sarah Hammer medaled silver in the Women's Omnium while Georgia Gould took bronze in the Women's Mountain Bike.
