MSU's Drew Stevens Retires from Football, Walk-on Jordan Benton Transfers

CHICAGO -- Michigan State tight end Drew Stevens is taking a medical retirement from football after undergoing back surgery earlier this month, coach Mark Dantonio said Thursday. Stevens did not participate in spring practice due to injury and has played sparingly since being signed as an athlete as part of Dantonio's 2008 recruiting class. He played in 17 games in three seasons, primarily on special teams after having made the transitions from linebacker and fullback. Junior walk-on wide receiver Jordan Benton has transferred to Division II Fort Lewis College after not seeing action with the Spartans.
