London 2012 Olympics TV Schedule: Complete NBC Listing and Coverage Info

The 2012 Olympic Games in London officially begin on Friday, July 27 with the opening ceremony. And it will be packed with excitement up until Sunday, August 12, when the events conclude and the closing ceremony takes place.

NBC has been broadcasting the Summer Olympics exclusively since 1988, and the network once again will be bringing incredible coverage to the unique event.

With eight different channels (NBC, NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC, BRAVO, Telemundo and specialty networks for soccer and basketball) and an incredible live-stream site that will broadcast each and every competition live, there is no excuse for you to miss a single minute of Olympic coverage.

Let’s take a look at what the Peacock Network will be broadcasting on its flagship stations during the London Games this summer.

This will be Team USA’s first group stage game against a relatively weak opponent. The women should be able to absolutely dominate and set the stage for a tournament that will likely end with a gold medal. If they have any struggles, it could be a major cause for concern.

Team USA went undefeated during the 2008 Beijing Games and are looking to capture yet another gold for the country. They have a tough opening match against the Serbians, who have struggled to medal in the past two Olympiads, but did take gold back in 2000.

The US women are ranked No. 1 in the world, but have yet to capture a gold medal since the sport became an official Olympic one in 2000.

They suffered tough one-goal defeats in the past two Summer Games and will be looking for vengeance in 2012.

The women’s singles gold-medal match will be shown live on this date and it should be a great one. Venus and Serena Williams are both set to compete for the American team and it would be a surprise if one of them did not make the gold-medal game.

The men’s tennis gold medal match is the must-see event on August 5. Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and David Ferrer will all be in the running for this match, but Rafael Nadal is noticeably absent winning the 2008 event in Beijing.

With perhaps the exception of Serbia, Hungary is the best water polo team in the world. They are loaded with stars and have won gold at the past three Olympic games, winning an unprecedented 17-straight matches in that time frame.

The USA will be looking to pull off a major upset and grab a claim to fame in the sport.

It’s always exciting to learn about the history of the Olympics and no basketball team was more important to the development of the sport around the world than the 1992 American national team.

They dominated in Barcelona and helped popularize basketball as a global sport. It’s well worth it to check in for a half hour on Friday afternoon to familiarize yourself with this epic squad.

It would be insane to picture a gold medal men’s basketball game without the US taking place. The roster is far too star studded to fail, and it’s likely the reason why the Americans will win gold.

After they do, keep it tuned to NBC for the closing ceremony, which promises to end the tournament on a great note.
