Poll: Should Gareth Bale Have Played for Spurs After Pulling out of Olympics?

Will Tidey@willtideySenior Manager, GlobalJuly 25, 2012

Gareth Bale started and scored for Tottenham on Wednesday, as Andre Villas-Boas' men were held to a 1-1 draw by LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center.

This by itself should be nothing unusual, but when you consider Bale withdrew from Great Britain's Olympic football squad three weeks ago—citing a back injury (via the Mirror)—the Welshman's appearance is being viewed with skepticism in some quarters.

Could it be Spurs exaggerated his injury to ensure he spent the preseason with them? Did Bale decide to forgo the Olympics despite the fact he knew he'd likely be fit enough?

Or is this simply a case of a player making a sensible decision and then enjoying a faster-than-expected recovery?

Either way, do you think Bale should have played for Spurs against LA Galaxy? Let's get the debate going below in the comments section.
