The Best New WAGs of 2012 so Far

Apparently the attention span of the professional athlete is precariously short. WAGs (wives and girlfriends) are always coming and going.

But thankfully WAGs are like trains on Metro at rush hour, because every time one disappears, another arrives within minutes to take her place. 

We're just seven months into 2012 and there have already been well over a dozen new smoking hot WAGs introduced to the public consciousness. Some will be with us for years to come, while others will have disappeared by the end of the month.

Time is precious, so let's take a look at the hottest new WAGs of 2012…so far. 

Jenny McCarthy

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has been dating former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy since late may.

Well, actually that's when the relationship was "officially confirmed," so who knows how the long two were actually "just friends" in the months leading up to the official confirmation. 

Cheryl Burke

Dancing With the Stars beauty Cheryl Burke has been linked with the Toronto Maple Leafs Joffrey Lupul since early July.

US Weekly first reported the coupling and they were soon seen together on the red carpet at the 2012 NHL Awards.

In July, Black Sports Online reported that Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant had been seen on a few dates with former Destiny's Child singer Letoya Luckett.

The two had been seen dining together in Las Vegas before Durant left to compete for the U.S. in the 2012 Olympics in London.

Ricki Noel Lander

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's relationship with 23-year-old actress Ricki Noel Lander was kept relatively under wraps outside of Boston, until a ridiculous audition tape he assisted her with was made public in July.

The video caused substantial embarrassment for the image-conscience Patriots organization. 

Eva Longoria

If rumors that she's dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez are true, actress Eva Longoria wouldn't be a new WAG—she divorced San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker a few years back.

But it would make her a kind of a new WAG, since she hasn't dated an athlete since Parker. Longoria and Sanchez have been spotted together on several (what look like) dates, but she recently claimed they're "just friends." Which means they're almost definitely dating. 

Maria Kirilenko

Russian tennis beauty Maria Kirilenko was first linked to Washington Capitals superstar forward Alexander Ovechkin when he tweeted a photo of them in December 2011.

The couple managed to stay out of the spotlight for so long that nobody was sure if there were actually an item until he Ovi accompanied her to the French Open in late May 2012.

In May, NBC Sports Erik Kuselias got engaged to his girlfriend Holly Sonders of the Golf Channel. The two had once co-hosted "Morning Drive" on the Golf Channel.

Lauren Tannehill

Being selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins was a pretty big day in the life of former Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

It was probably a much bigger day in the life of his wife Lauren, who went from aspiring model to the most talked about WAG on the planet in the minutes after her husband was drafted. 

Ciara Price

The Boston Bruins Tyler Seguin has been dating Ciara Price since April 2012, according to reports by various media outlets.

Price is a model and was Playboy's Miss November in 2011. The couple haven't released any official confirmations, but Price frequently posts photos of her and Seguin on Twitter. 

Raffaella Fico

Manchester City's Mario Balotelli was dating Italian model Raffaella Fico in early 2012, but the pair broke up amid rumors of Balotelli's infidelity.

It seems the relationship might not be entirely ended though. Fico is reportedly pregnant and claims the father is none other than Balotelli.

Man City's bad boy is demanding a paternity test, but if the reports are true, Miss Fico will considered a WAG for life. 

Bar Refaeli

According to reports by various media outlets in late May, snowboarder Shaun White was spotted smooching supermodel Bar Refaeli, Maxim's Hottest Woman in the World in 2012.

It's unclear whether this was a Memorial Day weekend fling, or something more serious—either way, let's hope Ms. Refaeli has given up actors for athletes. 

Kate Upton

It seems the "coupling" of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2012 cover girl Kate Upton and New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was all much ado about nothing.

The pair were linked in late 2011, but were never photographed together in public.

Upton's potential romance with Tigers pitching ace Justin Verlander is still quite new, but already has more teeth—in terms of publicity. The two were spotted getting friendly at a bar in Detroit in early July. 

Lisalla Montenegro

The Angels C.J. Wilson had dated model Dominique Piek on and off before breaking up in late 2010.

It seems Wilson has finally moved on, because he is now dating another stunningly beautiful model, Lisalla Montenegro—according to Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina.

So it's not all bad news for the New York Knicks!

According to a report by Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina, the Knicks Landry Fields has been dating beautiful blonde model Elaine Alden. There weren't any official confirmations sent out by their publicists, but Alden tweeted her own confirmation of her new-found status as one of the NBA's hottest WAGs. 

Jaime Edmondson

After being spotted together several times in early 2012, Tampa Bay Rays superstar Evan Longoria confirmed that he was, indeed, dating Playboy Playmate Jaime Edmondson.

The relationship wasn't just a little fling. Their coupling apparently has staying power because they're still together six months later.
