Dale Earnhardt Jr. is NASCAR’s highest-paid driver and the eighth highest-earning professional American athlete in sports, according to Sports Illustrated.

According to SI, Earnhardt was paid $28,164,690 in 2011 — $4,164,690 in salary and earnings, and $24 million in endorsements. Earnhardt made the Chase and finished seventh in the final Sprint Cup standings in 2011, but did not win a race.
