In addition to being famous, richer and more physically fit than your average person, professional athletes have a much bigger dating pool to choose from as well. Sure, that doesn't sound fair at all, but that's just one of the many perks that come along with the territory.
Many athletes choose to take advantage of this fact by dating strictly within the Big Three: actresses, models and cheerleaders. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but there are others who choose to date those who they have a bit more in common with—other professional athletes.
Here are some of the hottest athletes who date other athletes.
MMA fighter Miesha Tate is currently dating fellow UFC Team Alpha Male fighter Bryan Caraway. Apparently things are getting serious between the couple because, in March 2012, Caraway threatened to "knock (the) head off" and/or "choke" Ronda Rousey in the wake of Tate's first-round loss by submission to her.
Tennis greats Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi have been together since 1999. Prior to their coupling, Agassi hadn't been known to date athletes. He married former model Brooke Shields in 1997, but the marriage lasted just two years.
Graf obviously has a thing for athletes—she dated tennis player Alexander Mronz and race car driver Michael Bartels before Agassi.
In April 2012, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts to replace the legendary Peyton Manning. Luck had flown to New York from Georgia, where he was in town to watch his girlfriend, Stanford gymnast Nicole Pechanec, compete in the national gymnastics championships.
Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has been linked to a number of women since his 2008 divorce and, in 2011, it was professional wrestler/fitness model Torrie Wilson that was sleeping in his bed.
A-Rod seems to prefer aging actresses, but Wilson's dating past is exclusively athletes. She previously dated Yoshihiro Tajiri, Peter Gruner and Nick Mitchell. A-Rod has since moved on and is rumored to be dating actress Demi Moore.
Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno began dating gymnast Nikki Childs while the pair were both collegiate athlete at the University of Georgia. Their relationship was sparsely reported on, but Childs was mentioned in an ESPN The Magazine profile of Moreno in 2008.
The pair have reportedly since broken up.
Washington Capitals superstar forward Alexander Ovechkin had been linked to various Eastern European beauties over the years, but declared that Russian tennis stunner Maria Kirilenko was his "queen" in November 2011.
The pair remained out of the spotlight, at least in the U.S., for almost six months before being spotted practicing together prior to Wimbledon in July 2012. Prior to dating Ovi, Kirilenko had dated tennis player Igor Andreev.
Sexy soccer star Heather Mitts and career NFL backup quarterback A.J. Feeley began dating in 2002 and eventually married in 2010.
Mitts had previously dated tennis player James Blake and (now retired) baseball player Pat Burrell. Feeley obviously recognized a good thing and hung onto Mitts, his first high profile romance.
Raiders backup quarterback Matt Leinart dated college basketball player Brynn Cameron while they were both attending the University of Southern California. The relationship only lasted about a year, but the couple has a five-year-old son together named Cole.
Since then, Leinart has mostly dated reality starts, but Cameron was linked to a legit superstar in Clippers forward Blake Griffin in March 2011.
Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire isn't known for dating other athletes, but he made an exception in 2010 for tennis superstar Serena Williams. The pair were reportedly dating for just a few months.
Williams has a history of dating athletes. She was linked to basketball player Corey Maggette very early in her career and later to (now retired) NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson in 2002.
Irish golfer Rory McIlroy has been dating Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki since spring 2011. The pair are still in their very early 20s, but it looks like things have gotten very serious between the two.
McIlroy and Wozniacki have been spotted all over the world together over the last year—partying, sight-seeing and supporting each other at various competitions.
Former professional volleyball player/model Gabrielle Reece and former professional big wave surfer/model Laird Hamilton have been married since 1997.
Hamilton had previously been married, but it was Reece who had an eye for the athletes. She was romantically linked to the legendary Deion Sanders in 1985 when they were both attending Florida State.
Considering his notoriety, American swimming legend Michael Phelps hasn't had many high profile romances in recent years—perhaps he'll have more time for dating after retiring following the 2012 Olympics in London.
Phelps was linked to Australian Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice in 2008, but their romance was brief. Rice had previously dated Australian sprint swimmer Eamon Sullivan for two years.
Since soccer players Alex Morgan and Servando Carrasco began dating in 2007, Morgan has become one of the most popular female athletes in the sport. The couple both played college soccer in California but, before they both landed in Seattle in 2012, they hadn't played in the same city since then.
An article in The Seattle Times in April 2012 dubbed them "Seattle's first couple of soccer."
Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova broke hearts around the world when she announced her engagement to Slovenian basketball player Sasha Vujacic in 2011.
The two had been dating since 2009 and will be married in the fall of 2012. Sharapova had previous been linked to tennis player Andy Roddick and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Basketball players Sheldon Williams and Candace Parker have been dating since 2005. Back then, Williams was a standout star for Duke University and Parker was the same for the University of Tennessee.
The two got engaged after college and married in November 2008.
In 2000, two-time American softball Olympic medalist Jennie Finch briefly dated (now NBA forward) Richard Jefferson while they were both attending the University of Arizona.
Finch met minor league baseball pitcher Casey Daigle in 2004 and the couple married a year later in 2005.
Beach volleyball star Misty May and MLB catcher Matt Treanor met at a sports therapy facility in California in November 2003. The couple were engaged just six months later in March 2004, and married within a year of their first meeting in November 2004.
Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Ross has been with Olympic gold medalist sprinter Sanya Richards since 2003. Then, Ross was 20 and Richards was just 18.
The pair married in 2010 in a lavish wedding that was featured on an episode of WE TV's Platinum Weddings.
Along with her many X-Games gold medals and Olympic silver, Gretchen Bleiler's memorable appearances in FHM and ESPN The Magazine's annual Body Issue have made her one of the most recognized female snowboarders in the sport.
After dating for five years, Beiler got engaged to fellow snowboarder and Oakley team manager Chris Hotell in 2008. The pair married in 2009.
Australian golfer Adam Scott and Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic have been on and off in their relationship since early 2009. They first split in 2010, but reunited in late 2011.
Scott and Ivanovic were spotted cheering the other on in their respective sports for six months before splitting again in April 2012. Perhaps Ivanovic will go back to dating tennis players now, as she had previously dated Fernando Verdasco of Spain.
In 2009, (then) Browns backup quarterback Brady Quinn began dating (now retired) American gymnast Alicia Sacramone. The pair are reportedly still together, but maintain a low public profile.
