Team USA vs. Miami Heat

Ethan Sherwood Strauss@SherwoodStraussNBA Lead WriterJuly 20, 2012

They often say that the best soccer teams are club squads, and you won't see the best soccer in an event like the World Cup. I'm not sure this applies to basketball, as America produces so much of the world's top talent.

While the Miami Heat might have a big three to dream on, the salary cap stretches them thin in other aspects. Whereas Team USA might depend on Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook off the bench, Miami must use Mike Miller or Norris Cole.

The Heat would have a practice/strategy advantage in this possible matchup, though. Erik Spoelstra is a fine tactician and uses practices to their fullest extent. Team USA vs. Miami would be, at its most reductive, a chemistry vs. talent battle.
