Scouts: Buckeyes Score Sleeper Jacobs

While not a nationally heralded prospect, Urban Meyer is gaining a great fit for his spread offense in Taivon Jacobs (Forestville, Md./Suitland). A fast receiver with track speed, he could play a role similar as former UF weapons Percy Harvin and Chris Rainey did for Meyer in Gainesville. Jacobs is still a bit raw as a route-runner but he can flat out burn with the explosiveness to turn a short pass, motion sweep or backfield carry into a big gainer. He’s a natural athlete with the quickness, speed and ball skills to develop into a threat out of the slot position, but could also be that dynamic skill player who motions in and out of the backfield and creates mismatches with his speed. Very good pickup for the Buckeyes, who are recruiting the right pieces to fit systems on both sides of the ball.
