Imagine a three-time NASCAR champion becoming in two or three years an F1 world champion. Now that would make him the greatest active driver in the world. Agree?
Jimmie Johnson has the laid back cool persona, European-like if you will, that would fit well in F1, and an American team would have an instant fan base.
Would JJ do it? Why not, what else does he have to prove in NASCAR? At 33 years old, he should have a good five years to work on an F1 career.
Ahh! I know it's not going to happen, but hey, it's a nice thought!
The details of the USF1 team will be announced on Feb. 24; apparently it will have two American drivers on the grid.
It will have a home base in Charlotte, N.C., and one in a place to be determined in Europe.
Danica Patrick (a no-brainer if you looking for exposure) and Scott Speed are being mentioned as the possible drivers testing for the seats.
Now we need a race and a place to have one.
I have a great suggestion, there is a beautiful place I know where there is lots of open spaces, where you can watch races from the top of a hill so nice and green you think your at a golf course.
Where is it? Well, those F1 cars would look great on a Sunday drive at MID-OHIO.
