2011 Standout Michael Gilchrist (St. Patrick, NJ) Five Schools

Michael Gilchrist, a 6’7 combo forward in the class of 2011 for national powerhouse St. Patrick (NJ), has named an early list of five schools. The colleges on his list include Memphis, Rutgers, UConn, Virginia, and Villanova.

Michael Gilchrist is a consensus top three prospect in the class of 2011. He has a tremendous upside and has just begun to scratch the surface of his potential. This season he has had an outstanding sophomore campaign earning MVP honors at the 2008 BeachBall Classic and 2009 Primetime Shootout.

He also seems to set up his play on the big stage having impressive outings versus Oak Hill Academy (VA), 28 points and 9 rebounds at Primetime Shootout, and 31 points and 14 rebounds against Wheeler (GA) in BeachBall final.

Gilchrist plays hard every time out on the floor and runs the floor like a thoroughbred horse along with doing a great job on the boards at both ends of the floor. He has the ball handling skills to bring the ball up the court and play on the wing with the ability to attack the rim. He has a long frame that helps him on the defensive end where he can alter shots and shoot the passing lane with his quickness for steals.

He finishes strong inside despite his thin frame and he will be able to add muscle in the years to come. Another positive in his game are his hands. He has the ability to hit the mid-range jumper on a consistent basis. He is a very athletic player who plays above the rim in both the half-court and fast break.
