It may only be the preseason, but Tottenham's newest attacking option has already begun having an impact.
In their first friendly of the summer and last before they begin their tour of the United States, Spurs traveled to Stevenage to take on their foes from last year's fifth round of the FA Cup.
After dominating the play in the first half, Tottenham brought on a pair of brand new faces in defender Jan Vertonghen and midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.
It was the Icelandic Sigurdsson who made the most impact on his debut, as he scored the breakthrough in the 56th minute after a Andros Townsend corner.
There were a few other great signs for Tottenham throughout the match, as 22-year-old midfielder Iago Falque scored a second and 17-year-old Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly came close to adding another.
Further, 18-year-old Harry Kane was very impressive in attack while veteran Spurs Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon, David Bentley and Steven Pienaar made some nice contributions.
Even midfielder Tom Huddlestone got into the action, whose positive influence has been missing at Spurs in the recent past due to injury.
Again, it was just a preseason battle, but the match provided some very good signs for Spurs' upcoming season.
Up next, Tottenham travels to the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles to take on David Beckham, Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and the Galaxy next Tuesday.
