The first day of SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala., didn't lack suspense. The annual circus gives the SEC a stage all its own.

With the whole college football world watching, the nation's top conference delivered with flying colors. SEC Media Days has evolved into an event that is less about getting quotes from players, and more about the characters involved.

Missouri and Texas A&M made the rounds for the first time at the event, while South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was well-prepared with snazzy one-liners.

The combination of Spurrier, new Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin and the always-entertaining head coach of Vanderbilt, James Franklin, made for some sizzling soundbites on Day 1.
