USC-Washington State: College Basketball Feb. 19, 2009 Against the Spread

Washington State Cougars (13-12) at USC Trojans (15-9)

Game Time: 10:30 PM ET

The Line: USC -7

Washington State heads to Los Angeles to take on the Trojans while looking to remain above .500 on the season. The Cougars are coming into the game off an embarrassing loss to Oregon State.

Washington State has really struggled this year trying to find consistency. In many chances, I’ve felt Washington State could have made minor decisions that would affect their record substantially.

At home vs. USC, they completely controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish, but with an eight-point lead and four minutes left, they ended up blowing the game 46-44.

Believe me when I say that is not the only game the Cougars have blown this year.

The Trojans head back home after an embarrassing road trip to Arizona, where USC lost back to back to Arizona and to Arizona State.

Before the road trip, USC got blown out of the water in Westwood by UCLA.

The absence of sixth man Marcus Johnson has absolutely killed USC. Johnson has been the most clutch player on the Trojans this season and has won at least three Pac-10 games for them with his athleticism.

I believe the Trojans work out their issues and cover the spread against a Washington State school that is playing very poor basketball. The Trojans won’t lose four games in a row. A combination of Tim Floyd’s coaching and Daniel Hackett’s leadership should help the Trojans to bounce back and win this game by a much larger margin than seven points.

The Pick: USC -7
