Ohio State Deserves to be Dancing in the Tournament

Jeremy FosterContributor IMarch 11, 2008

As you may know selection sunday is coming at the end of the week and according to allot of people the Buckeyes are on the outside looking in. Ohio State has had a rough season after losing four starters from last year and having three first round players in the nba draft ( Gregg Oden, Mike Conley, Daquan Cook) and having three of their current starters as freshmen. Their schedule had allot to do with that though having to play North Carolina, Tennessee, and Butler. All three games were close and two of them were very close at the end.

The Buckeyes also had a rough big ten start at the begining of league play and suffered a couple of set backs with losess at Michigan a loss against Minnesota and a loss to Iowa. They were able to turn the season around and put themselves back in the tournament picture with two upsets over top twenty five teams in one week. Yet according to many experts they have not proved themselves yet and still need to beat Michigan State friday to get in the tournament.

I think Ohio State should be in after what they pulled off last week regardless of what happens friday. The selection committee should take into account that the buckeyes beat two of the bubble teams some experts have in the tournament (Syracuse Florida) and the fact that they have in my opinion one of the toughest schedules in Division 1 basketball.
