Player to watch: Superstar wide receivers aren’t exclusive to USC. Cal has one in 6-3, 206-pound junior Keenan Allen. Despite the inconsistencies of quarterback Zach Maynard, Allen had a monster sophomore season, catching 98 passes for 1,343 yards and six touchdowns. Against USC, Allen had a season-high 13 receptions for 160 yards. Given that Allen is clearly Cal’s No. 1 receiving option, don’t be surprised if USC assigns top cornerback Nickell Robey to shadow him throughout the game. Robey did that against Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd last season and shut him down, limiting Floyd to four catches for 28 yards.
