The Hollywood Reporter reports truTV will create a show heavy on the viral videos and pepper it with some parody creations of its own, and it's called Upload with Shaquille O’Neal.
Owen is best known for his role in Think Like a Man and has also appeared in Daddy Day Care and in the TV series House of Payne.
Godfrey is a stand-up comedian who has also appeared on shows like 30 Rock and Louie, making him the go-to guy for funny on the new show.
At least, that's what I am hoping.
Let's temper the shock with an admission of affection for Shaq. The man can be hilarious when he is in his element. On TNT's Inside the NBA, we found that he is rarely in his element.
Some antics seem forced, and other times you can barely hear what the man is saying. I have faith that, in time, O'Neal will shine just as brightly as Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith.
For this show, it seems to be emulating Tosh.O, a Comedy Central show that plays viral videos from around the web, hosted by stand-up Daniel Tosh.
This is where the other problem comes in, because you have a highly successful show hosted by an irreverent and hilarious Tosh.
The minute people make the comparison, you are playing catch-up.
This show could be spot on and ridiculously funny. It could be the hit of the new network and a vehicle for bigger things for O'Neal.
I would just be shocked if it were.
Follow me on Twitter, but not too close, because I am easily startled.
