NFL: Key Offseason Dates

Now that the Super Bowl has been played, re-played, analyzed, and re-analyzed, it's time to settle into the offseason. 

Here is a list of some of the key dates we will be looking forward to throughout the offseason:

·        Feb. 18-24: NFL Scouting Combine, Indianapolis

·        Feb. 19 @ 4 pm: Deadline for teams to designate which player will receive the franchise tag.

·        Feb. 26: Deadline for current club to make qualifying offers to restricted free agents.

·        Feb. 27: Free agency period begins as well as the trading period.

·        March 22-25: NFL Owner's Meeting in Dana Point, CA.

·        April 17: Signing period for restricted free agents ends.

·        April 25-26: 2009 NFL Draft

·        May 18-20: Spring Meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

·        Mid-late July: Team training camps (dates and locations specific to teams)

·        Aug. 9: Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH (Tennessee Titans v. Buffalo Bills)

·        Sept. 1: Roster cuts (75 player maximum)

·        Sept. 5: Roster cuts (53 player maximum)

·        Sept. 10: Season opener
