Inside Football: Sportsmanship is an Art
We always mention the best players in football and acknowledge those who produce their dazzling abilities on the pitch.
Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the best player in the world. But today, Inside Football emphasizes the belief that it is time to give credit to the "cleanest" players in the world.
Surely it is an art to dribble, pass, tackle, mark, score, and head the ball, but also, there is an art that football analysts and sonnets do not praise.
Truly it is an art to have "cold nerves" on the football pitch. It is such a wonderful human attribute to be classy and hold on to one's temper at crucial moments in life.
In the football world, players who hold on to their tempers at the dying moments in a close match prove to be great players and heroic captains and leaders.
Such players pick up yellow and red cards very few times in a season and do not argue with referees, nor sarcastically clap for them when a player doesn't like an official's decision. Such players also happen to be hardworkers.
I pay tribute to an excellent fantasy squad I have picked; players who are both skilled and "clean":
Paulo Ferreira Paolo Maldini Javier Zanetti
Andrea Pirlo Esteban Cambiasso
Frank Lampard Xavi
Kaka Ryan Giggs
Alessandro Del Piero
Ruud van Nistelrooy
Truly sportsmanship is the best companion of skill for the footballers of every time are not merely performers, but idols for our children and the future men and women of this world.
Do you agree? Can you think of a clean and skilled player who has not been mentioned?
