Well, that’s one way to put a nascent program on the map. In preparation for its inaugural season, the NAIA program at Lindenwood University-Belleville (IL) will play their home games on a field with stripe-colored “EnviroTurf” that looks like a giant Candy Cane. The color scheme – which alternates between gray and maroon every five yards between the end zone and 45-yard lines – was captured on Sunday by The Southern, a local newspaper. It is part of a $2.3 million renovation to what was formerly Township Stadium. Ground was broken on the new stadium on March 5 and is scheduled to be completed on Sunday. The new stadium will feature a capacity of 4,129, as well as a new press box and locker room.
