Well this is the moment we have all been waiting for: the release of the California entry lists. These will probably give us a good indication of how many cars/trucks to expect on a week-to-week basis, at least early in 2009. And even for the 3,000 mile trip west, the entry lists look relatively robust:
Auto Club 500 Entry List
Stater Brothers 300 Entry List
San Bernardino County 200 Entry List
The big surprise here has to be the fact that the start and park gods have blessed the Truck Series with a potentially full field for Saturday afternoon. And for a while there, I thought they'd be lucky to get 30 trucks, even with the welfare recipients. Also, David Gilliland will drive for TRG over the next four weeks in the #71 Sprint Cup machine that DNQ'ed for the 500 with Mike Wallace behind the wheel. It appears as if Kevin Buckler is going to focus on running the Cup car for the time being, as he does not have a truck entered for California. Which is a shame, seeing how J.R. Fitzpatrick was really strong in Daytona. I'm telling you: there are some talented drivers from north of the border. Fitzpatrick, D.J. Kennington, and Andrew Ranger all immediately come to mind.
