Scottish Open organizers received an unexpected phone call last weekend, and a boost to their event. Scotsman.com reports that Phil Mickelson asked for, and was granted, late entry into this week's field.

Mickelson missed the cut last week at the Greenbrier Classic, and he is looking to tune up his game for the British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes, which begins July 19.
