Former MLB Pitcher Scott Kazmir Signs with Skeeters

ESPN reports that former MLB pitcher Scott Kazmir is officially a member of the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.

Kazmir is expected to start Sunday’s game against the Bridgeport Bluefish. Game time is slated for 6:05 p.m. CT, 7:05 pm ET.

A lot of time has passed since we have seen Kazmir on the mound and I am unaware where he has been training and with whom, but this first game has a lot riding on it.

Obviously, Kazmir would like to get back to the major leagues hopefully in time for a playoff run.

Gary Gaetti, former Minnesota Twins great and current Skeeters manager, was quoted by the Associated press (h/t The Sacramento Bee) and is thrilled at the idea of this former strikeout expert on his staff:

"We look forward to seeing his stuff in action out on the mound with the track record he brings."

At 28, there has to be a lot left in the tank. This is just the first step and you can bet it’s not just me refreshing the screen to check the updated numbers on this one. They’re will be a few scouts doing the exact same thing.
