Wrestlemania XXV is only one and a half months away. Let's take a look at what possible match will make up one of the top battles in the event.
Triple H vs. Randy Orton
This matchup is very popular as it is easy to support.
Triple H and Orton have a long history together and they've bumped heads too many times.
Orton has taken out both Vince and Shane McMahon, and poor Stephanie is left alone. The Shane/Legacy theory is flung out the window, and when Orton sets his viper eyes on Stephanie, Triple H might just be there to save the day.
They've fought as part of a triple threat match with John Cena at Wrestlemania XXIV, but are we ready to see another encounter of the two relentless savages? Orton left Triple H nearly lifeless at the end of the Last Man Standing Match at No Mercy, which began the "Age of Orton."
Let's not forget it was Triple H himself who ended the "Age of Orton" and broke Orton's collarbone at One Night Stand.
Randy Orton vs. Edge
Wrestlemania XXV could turn into the Rated-RKO anniversary, as Orton and Edge could face off on the grandest stage of them all.
This one is a bit of a stretch because both of them are heels. They aren't regular heels— they're the top heels for their respective show. Heels have went at it before, but WWE isn't too fond of heel vs. heel as they are towards face vs face.
On the other hand, Edge was moved to Smackdown before Orton could feud with him, so this would be fresh for the WWE, and be a huge money maker. They are the top two heels and given their evolutions, they cannot be on the same show because the other would lack that type of sadistic heel.
Chris Jericho is great, but he's no Edge or Orton, and this one might be a hat trick if they can do it.
Edge vs. John Cena
One of the biggest feuds of 2006 could be rekindled. Cena and Edge have done it all together. Edge attacked Cena's father, had a live sex show, cashed in the "money in the bank" after an elimination chamber. Cena has performed a F-U (Attitude Adjuster) on Lita.
You name it, they've done it.
The two have squared off one too many times, but could the next time be at Wrestlemania XXV? How many more times can they do this? If this means shipping Cena to Smackdown, then I'm all for it.
John Cena vs. Triple H
This is the worst choice possible. Cena and Triple H have both been in the same main event for a WWE world championship in Wrestlemanias XXII and XXIV. I don't want to have to count the PPV's they they were, and possibly will be involved in.
You can throw in a couple of Backlash PPV's and a Night of Champions to boot too.
For this match to go down, WWE would need some serious—and I mean serious—logic behind a story because it wouldn't make sense in my book, and I don't want to see it either.
The last time WWE didn't put logic into a story, fans got Mike Knox vs. Rey Mysterio. No one knows why he attacked Rey still to this day.
RAW: No World Title
A favorite seems to be that Triple H will be coming over to Raw. As I mentioned in the Orton vs. Triple H discussion, Triple H might come to Stephanie's aid because Orton has taken out every McMahon in his way. Also, Stephanie has a big red target on her....unless she joins "Legacy."
I suppose I can throw my theory out the window, but the possibility is still there. It might be a very long shot, but what if Raw and Smackdown finally aligned? I recall Stephanie saying that she wanted RAW all for herself, but her father and brother were in the way.
Did she actually think Shane would beat Orton in a No Holds Barred Match?
She must have wanted Shane to get taken out, while keeping her hands clean. Maybe I'm just hearing voices in my head.
Time will tell.
