The world of Twitter is ready to explode with rumors of a swap that would involve David Villa heading to the Emirates in exchange for RVP.
If all these tweets prove true (big if), it would appear to be the coup of the century for Arsene Wenger.
After a difficult couple of days following RVP's announcement that he would not be signing an extension, it seems as though the Frenchman might have struck gold with an able replacement for his captain.
Reports out of Spain have been speculating that Barcelona are looking to offload Villa to raise funds to purchase RVP. But other reports from Sky Sports have been suggesting that Barcelona are yet to make an offer, and that Juventus remain the front runners to land the Dutch international.
The 30-year-old Villa has been considered an injury risk in recent years. But when he is healthy, there is no denying his goal-scoring record. Some considered him the greatest striker in the world after his Silver Shoe performance at the 2010 World Cup.
Villa boasts an astounding 51 goals in 82 international games for Spain. And for those who think that might be because of Spain's incredible midfield, take some time to consider his 160 La Liga goals since 2005/06.
This rumor would be consistent with the growing number of people who believe in their heart of hearts that RVP would refuse any move to another Premier League club.
Is this rumor too good to be true? Is Twitter playing with the hearts of millions of Arsenal fans worldwide? Time will tell, but if Villa does come to the Emirates, this should be considered a major coup for the Gunners.
