Olympics: Early Favorites to Take Home Gold, Silver, Bronze

Michael Cummings@MikeCummings37World Football Lead WriterJuly 6, 2012

The Olympic soccer tournament is only a few weeks away. Now is the time to predict who will win gold, silver and bronze.

Great Britain will have home-field advantage throughout the tournament, with matches played in London, Manchester, Cardiff and elsewhere. The British also have several familiar names in their squad, like Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge.

But will that be enough for the Brits to get past teams like Brazil and Spain?

Spain will bring three members of the Euro 2012-winning squad to the Olympics. We expect those three to play well, but how will the rest perform?

Finally, there’s Brazil. Shockingly, the Brazilians have never won Olympic gold in their glorious soccer history. Will that change this summer?

Watch as B/R World Football Lead Blogger Michael Cummings predicts who will win gold, silver and bronze this summer.
