Remember the time Charles Barkley tried to buy Dirk Nowitzki for his Auburn basketball team? No? Well, let the round mound of high-larious tales tell you all about it.
If you are ever in a room with the former NBA superstar and current TNT basketball analyst/funny man, you plant your butt in a seat and stay there, because you are about to have an amazing time.
Barkley dives into a story that has everything, including one of the best defenders to ever play the game get torched by some gangly little kid...allegedly.
CBS Sports catches us up to speed enough to inform us this was after a celebrity softball game held over the weekend.
At some point, the Gatorade went to Barkley's head, and he started rambling on about the first time he and another NBA superstar encountered a young Dirk Nowitzki.
The Chuckster talks about an 18- or 19-year-old Nowitzki lighting up an in-form Scottie Pippen. Of course, Pippen received heavy ribbing at the half when this young punk dropped "25 at halftime."
Barkley says he and Michael Jordan laid into Pippen about this kid going HAM on one of the NBA's best.
I'm gonna lock him down in the second half. I'm gonna lock him down in the second half...Dirk finished with like 52.
Then it gets really interesting as Barkley talks about what came next, when he told Nike to relay a message—Chuck would give Nowitzki anything he wanted if he went to Auburn.
The chuckles continue as that story leads to Barkley concluding that splashing cash on an amateur is no big deal. Hell, Cam Newton was just a good investment...allegedly.
Seriously, get this man his own show in the offseason.
