After a great start to the season, the Michigan Wolverines are scrambling for their NIT lives after a 42-54 defeat to Michigan State on Tuesday. Michigan closes out the regular season with four road games out of the six remaining contests. The Wolverines have come out on the winning side only once in six Big Ten games on the road, with the one victory being at Indiana.
Northwestern lost a heart-breaker at home on Thursday when Illinois used a bucket with 2.9 seconds left to pull out a 60-59 win in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The loss stopped a four-game home winning streak for the Wildcats. In their first matchup with Michigan, Northwestern came up short 59-68 back on the 24th of January.
