Swiss time-trial powerhouse Fabian Cancellara blew away the field on today's Prologue Stage of the 2009 Tour of California.  The 28-year-old Saxobank rider blistered the 3.9 km windy course in Sacramento in 4:32.9, averaging 50 kilometers per hour.

This is the second year in a row that Cancellara has won California's opening prologue.

Coming in second place just a second behind Cancellara was defending champion Levi Leipheimer (Astana), proving that he is primed for a third overall win. U.S. Time Trial Champion David Zabriskie (Garmin-Slipstream) rounded out the podium.

Notable finishers include Team Columbia-Highroad's duo of Michael Rogers and George Hincapie (fourth and sixth, respectively), putting themselves in good position for the rest of the race.  Lance Armstrong (Astana) rounded out the top 10, finishing 4.3 seconds behind Cancellara.
