In a shocking turn of events, TNA has released former Knockout and Knockout's Tag Champion Angelina Love.
The announcement was made from Love's Twitter account:
To all my wonderful fans, just want to let you know I have been granted my release from TNA. It was completely amicable parting of ways and I want to thank TNA and all of its employees for the wonderful journey I've had there over the years. Now I'm on to the next amazing chapter of my life! If you are looking to book me please contact John at firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you so much!
This is really interesting since Love had been a huge part of the Knockouts division within TNA and was a part of big angles as part of the Beautiful People with Velvet Sky. She hadn't been a part of the title picture in the division since losing the KO Tag titles to Sarita and Rosita, but in a division as dynamic as the Knockout's division, she could have become a power player at any time.
What also makes this interesting is where Love will go next after TNA. Will the WWE be daring enough to sign her to a full contract (she had a developmental contract with the promotion from 2004-2007) in order to bolster their flimsy Diva's division?
It would make sense since right now there are barely a handful of competent women wrestlers in the WWE, and having someone like Love on the roster would definitely help, especially with Kharma's return inevitable.
The only thing that could keep the WWE at arm's length with Angelina is the lawsuit from TNA. If they try to sign her, an argument could be made similar to what was happening concerning Ric Flair's contract and how the WWE may have been trying to re-sign him while he was still working with TNA.
But time will tell. It is situations like this that make it really interesting to be a wrestling fan in order to see what happens next.
