One thing that's as vital as a superstar's in -ring work, is their mic skills. Throughout the decades there have been great mic men, good mic men, and not so good mic men.

They help provide our show, as the "match" is only half of it. Build up is needed for every feud and without it, you might as well be looking at something like Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox.

I have composed a list of five great mic men. Many will agree, many will disagree. so here we go...

"NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOU, MATT!"

Edge knows how to draw the heat. He's really good at it, and his heel rise in 2006, was the inception of a WWE heel takeover that we have currently.

He was dubbed the Ultimate Opportunist, and he sure sounds like he'll do anything to stay on top.

Seen the live sex show with Lita? Remember when he married Vickie Guerrero? He has his own talk show for a reason.

The great mic men all have talk shows: Jericho, MVP, Christian, Rowdy Piper, The Rock concert (don't really count, but consider it), and Edge with his own Cutting Edge.

Look back for the episode when he cut a segment about Matt Hardy, great mic work. Hardy accused Edge of being his brother's attacker, Edge responded, "Nobody cares about you, Matt!"

Great execution, great emotion, facial expression, great posture. Edge earns his spot.

"I Hear Voices"

Randy Orton is a great mic man. I'm an Orton fan (since Day 1), but he isn't on this list because he is a favorite, but because he has progressed significantly.

Orton' s transition from legend killer to the heartless demon, almost happened in a blink of an eye. His promos make you actually wonder if they are really voices in his head.

His facial expressions and posture are aligned. He makes everyone aware that no one will stop him and his destiny...pay close attention when he's talking...or you'll end up like Vince McMahon.

HBK

Some people may not know how difficult it is to play the victim. Shawn Michaels does is almost perfectly.

His emotions, poise, structure, and facial expression are all coordinated while he pours his heart and soul into the mic.

Wrestling is fake, but if there is man who can make you believe that there is truly adversity ...even for a split second, it's HBK.

"You Are All Hypocrites"

Chris Jericho is No. 2 and will not lose this spot...ever. I don't think someone can come along and knock off the 2008 superstar of the year out of this his spot.

Usually when someone returns after leaving wrestling, they're never the same. but Jericho proved other wise.

He's better than what he used to be and has perfected both the face and heel mic work. (see: classic Jericho, and second coming Jericho)

"Who in the Blue Hell Are You?!"

The Rock is No. 1, and it shouldn't really be a surprise. The most electrifying man in sports entertainment also had the most electrifying mic as well.

The Rock set the mic on fire every time he touched the thing. Heel or face, Rock would, has, and still will get the job done...now...know your role and shut your mouth.
