Welcome to BR5, your daily source for sports and pop culture news.

It’s that time of the week. The weekend is so painfully close, yet so far away. As you grind down the last few hours of Friday, it might be time to get an idea of what you’re going to get into over the next few days. BR5’s got you covered with a new edition of “Check It Out"!

The Euro 2012 tournament has not disappointed thus far, and the whole thing wraps this Sunday. If you’ve been too busy to keep up, Spain edged Portugal in penalty kicks Wednesday, and Super Mario Balotelli powered Italy past Germany, setting up Spain and Italy to face off in the Sunday finale.  Who do you think will win this year’s Euro Cup? Let us know below!

As most of you action sports fans probably know by now, the X Games started yesterday in Los Angeles when they kicked things off with all the mind-numbing, death-defying action you could imagine. For those of you who didn’t score tickets, or just weren’t willing to fly out to Los Angeles, you can catch all the action online or on television throughout the weekend. And remember: Don’t try this stuff at home!

If the couch isn’t calling your name this weekend, perhaps you may want to get out for a while and head to your local theater.

For some R-rated fun, you have a choice between the stripper comedy Magic Mike from director Steven Soderbergh and an even raunchier comedy from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane,Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.

If you want to get away from the screen, the Fourth is coming up, so play with some fireworks! Regardless of what you decide to do, have a great weekend!
