MMA, Dana White

Perhaps I am in the minority, but I think Dana could do a lot worse to the UFC by ignoring the buzz on the MMA sites than by considering some of their opinions.

Two of my favorite sites are Fightbook and ProElite. The posters, except for two that I can think of, do not have crude or dirty mouths, and actually have mature and very thoughtful concepts for the continuing popularity of the sport of MMA.

It is true that many bloggers disagree with many of the 'Dana' decisions,  but in retrospect, I am sure you regret them as well.

Fortunately, you are in a position to rethink these and undo or redo them at a later time and come out as the fans' hero.

For me, I would have to ask for the use of fewer f-bombs.

Your shows are reaching a much younger audience than you originally intended; the upside of this is that they have allowances to buy your many products and will just grow up to be even greater fans in the future.

By speaking in a less provocative, less explicit manner, you could gain the approval of parents and teachers everywhere and really have a beneficial impact on the youth of America.

The dirty mouthed bloggers, after all, feel they are just following in your macho image by their foul talk.

Is it really so terrible that bloggers love Andre Arlovski and Randy Couture and would love having them back on UFC?

Are the fights that bloggers want to see that much inferior to those Joe Silva matches up?

Couldn't you, the UFC, and the fans all benefit from allowing them to have a bigger voice in making the sport something that everyone's dreams are made of?

The fantasies of fight fanatics all over the world hang in the balance.

Would it really hurt you to listen to the bloggers' voices?

  1. But which voice of the millions is he supposed to listen to? I would love to think it is mine, but would be happy if he just heard my voice in passing as well.
And as far as toning down his image, I again think you are asking a little much. He is the president of an organization that is dedicated to a violent sport. Getting approval of parents probably isn't his main concern. It might be more important that parents monitor what their children are watching versus what he is saying.
I also doubt that bloggers are just mimicking his vernacular. Bloggers swear and act profane because they are protected by the blanket of anonymity, not to mention, the first amendment. Dana White's swearing doesn't change that. And most of the time he is swearing it is because he is pissed that he is giving once-in-a-lifetime chances to fighters that are willing to let them slip away without a fight (literally).
Also, Andrei Arlovski fought in the last PPV (he won by TKO).

  2. Who gives flying fuck! -Tito

  3. To further the acceptance of MMA and specifically the UFC SHOULD be the president of the organization's biggest objective. Are we in agreement on that at least? How can cursing, using coarse language and disrespecting fighters and fans alike further the sport? Dana is a parent too. Do you think he would appreciate having people asking them "Hey Kids, aren't you that f'n Dana White's F'n little b******s?" As a parent I wouldn't approve of that. Dana is opening his kids and family up to a lot of verbal abuse they did nothing to deserve by the way he represents himself and his organization. Will he ever be mature enough to recognise this? I would certainly hope so.

  4. Maybe dreams come true and Dana does listen, at least as far as letting Andre Arlovski sign a new contract. And could it be possible that Fedor will sign a one fight contract with the UFC and actually make Randy Couture's dream come true for his last fight under his UFC contract?
