Dave's College Basketball Picks, Feb.14: Creighton at Southern Illinois

dave darbySenior Analyst IFebruary 14, 2009

Creighton (20-6, 10-4) at Southern Illinois (11-14, 6-8)

Line: Creighton -3.5

Coming off a 79-65 victory over Bradley in the Quest Center, Creighton now has just 5 games remaining to catch league leader Northern Iowa. The favorable closing schedule starts with a visit to Southern Illinois. The Blue Jays have now won five games in a row and look to be peaking at the right time.

Traditionally a powerhouse in the Missouri Valley Conference, Southern Illinoisnow finds themselves near the bottom of the standings. Short on firepower, the Salukis just can’t stay with the top teams in the conference such as Northern Iowa who beat Southern Illinois81-55 on Wednesday. The Salukis are a young squad that looks to be much improved in 2010 but are taking their lumps now.
